Welcome back to the Barry Art Museum!
We are very pleased to be resuming our normal hours of operation: Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.; closed on Mondays.
Your health is our primary concern - our team is keeping up with CDC and State of Virginia guidelines and we abide by the policies and procedures developed by the ODU Environmental Health and Safety task force. We want to be certain that we are maintaining the best practices in safety, while ensuring an enjoyable visitor experience.
What we are doing to keep you safe
BAM staff and visitors will wear masks at all times
Acrylic panels have been installed at our front desk
Hand sanitizer is available at the Museum
A no touch visitor experience. We removed our interactive exhibits and ask that you use our hand wave sensors to open and close entry doors.
Museum occupancy has been reduced to 25% of our capacity, 40 guests total are allowed in the building at any time.
Coat check is not available, large bags (larger than 11 x 15 inches) and backpacks are not permitted. Soft front facing carriers and strollers are allowed.
Two wheelchairs are still available for use during your visit, they are sanitized fully between uses. Please inquire at the front desk.
BAM has created new signage to help visitors navigate the spaces maintaining at least 6' distances.
BAM staff will be disinfecting all high-touch surfaces throughout the day and after hours.
BAM staff will be monitored for COVID-19 related symptoms with daily temperature checks and screening tests. Free tests have been made available for all staff.
In accordance with CDC recommendations, non-essential staff is working remotely to keep contact low.
Staff who have traveled are required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to work in person.
- Staff who test positive, have symptoms, or have been in contact with someone experiencing symptoms or diagnosed with COVID-19 are required to quarantine for at least 14 days.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR VISIT: You play a crucial role in reopening by respecting a minimum 6 feet of social distance, keeping your children close, and being vigilant about anyone over 2 years of age wearing a facemask. Please no large bags as our coatcheck is closed. If you are under the weather, STAY HOME! And visit us virtually!
