Location Details

The Museum is located on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA at the intersection of W. 43rd Street and Hampton Boulevard, adjacent to the Chartway Arena and diagonally across from the Darden College of Education & Professional Studies.

Parking

Parking is available in the Constant Center Garage, adjacent to the Museum on W. 43rd Street. Please follow the signs for Barry Art Museum Parking.

FREE Museum guest parking spaces are available on the ground floor during Museum hours of operation.

All Museum parking spaces revert to metered parking outside of Museum hours; failure to pay the appropriate fees will result in ticketing.

Metered parking spaces are also located on the ground floor and are numbered. At the payment kiosk by the glass doors type in your space number, then select how long you would like to park. The kiosks take cash or card payment.

General Museum Guide

  • Please refrain from touching the artwork as well as the walls and pedestals on which art is displayed.
  • Food and drinks are not permitted in the Museum.
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Large objects, including but not limited to backpacks, skateboards, oversized purses, and umbrellas, will be collected at the reception desk and will be placed by staff in secured lockers in the coat closet.
  • Baby strollers are allowed in the Museum, but will not be provided.
  • Guests are invited to sketch with pencils and other dry media in the Museum.
  • Shirt and shoes are required for admittance.
  • No smoking is allowed on the premises.
  • Visitors are discouraged from bringing works of art into the Museum.
  • All entrances are accessible and there is an elevator to the second floor. All galleries are accessible. You can find more information on our Accessibility page.
