This interactive program encourages kids and adults to learn about art together with activities, games and songs inspired by our exhibitions and collection. Drop in for one week or come back each week to experience a different themed craft project. Designed for ages 5 - 105!

BIOs: Meet our team of experienced Artists Educators! These professionally trained makers come to us from across the US and all live locally in Norfolk. Renowned in the field of Glass and Material Studies and seasoned in Museum Interpretation we are honored to have them lead our Family Art Days.

Kimberly McKinnis is a mixed media artist originally from Southern California. Her mixed media sculpture is made from silver, glass, and other found objects which she collects from all over the world. Kim is the founder of For All Handkind, and Artist Collective Craft Shop. She received a BFA in Studio Art with a Concentration in Glass, and an MFA in Exhibition Design from the California State University in Fullerton, California. She currently teaches at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio, ODU and the Governor's School for the Arts.

Suzy Peterson's work emphasizes exploration of the self. She received a BFA from The University of Wisconsin, and has recently exhibited work at WomanMade Gallery, been published in New Glass Review and walked in Laura Donefer's Glass Fashion Show! She is an instructor at the Chrysler Museum's Glass Studio and a bench jeweler for Lorak Jewelry. She loves all things that sparkle and shimmer and glimmer and glitter.

Sarah Vaughn headshotSarah Vaughn

Sarah Vaughn has taught for Old Dominion University, the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio, Governor's School for the Art, Urban Glass, and numerous other studios around the country. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art at Southern Illinois University, Masters of Fine Art from the Rochester Institute of Technology in NY. Her work has been collected and exhibited internationally. She loves finding those magical moments in which time seems to stand still. Her favorite thing about being an artist is working with her studio assistant, Albus. He reminds Sarah when it is time to take a break and is the best snuggler in the world. He is also a dog.
