October 16 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The field of bio-inspired robotics develops robots having functions like reliable locomotion in unstructured terrains by studying and mimicking how animals and insects achieve similar adaptive capabilities in nature. This project is focused on design of bio-inspired robotic crawlers that borrow inspiration from quadrupedal animals like frogs, lizards, elephants, and cats. Some potential applications for these crawling robots include emergency response at disaster sites and search & rescue in uneven terrain environments.
