Cross-Pollination Series: Brett Day Windham & Robert Fuchs
March 4, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Cross-Pollination Lectures is a series of conversations between contemporary artists featured in the “Orchids: Attraction and Deception” exhibition at the Barry Art Museum and botanical experts in the field. This event is between artist Brett Day Windham and botanical expert Bob Fuchs. Both Windham and Fuchs have extensive histories filled with their own groundbreaking works and achievements. Together they will be discussing how the orchid plant has inspired their individual works, how the understanding of the orchid has changed over time, and how the growth of that knowledge can be impactful.
Brought to you in partnership with the ODU Office of Community Engagement.
Brett Day Windham is a multidisciplinary artist working with sculpture, installation, and collage. She builds a collection of natural, commercial, and industrial remnants from various sources over time. Her work is built from the specifically collected objects into multi-disciplinary works that confer a sense of feminism, mysticism, and ritual.
Bob Fuchs has had an interest in orchids since he was 10 years old. That interest has only strengthened and flourished over time. His personal collection and involvement with orchid societies have allowed him to build a reputation as orchid royalty.
